The long wait is finally over. The games server is now alive and kicking. A ton of people contributed to make this happen, the list of which I cannot even begin to name. Many staff members and many members from the community really pushed and built some great maps, ran through some awesome configurations and got things going. Without all of you, none of us would have it up right now, as I have been busy elsewhere and really did not contribute at all to bringing this live.

For starters, right now we have Warhub up and running. The games server can be accessed via the main server Hub. If the portal itself is not working, remember you can always rclick on the signs!

I had a small hiccup in getting item transfers complete in time, but they will be here very shortly. So you WILL be able to bring over physical prizes/rewards from the games server, to Towny. Also, this afternoon I will be linking the economy of the games server to the main Towny economy. Some games cost a couple Silver to enter, but reward much more!

Over the coming few days, and weeks, more games and maps will be coming online, and I will post as they do.

As always, please comment in the forums on your thoughts of the maps, prizes, layouts, costs, everything.

Also to note, a special thanks to Vaeldor and Nephanie for keeping on me yesterday to make sure this thing released. Could not have done it without you guys. Another thanks to everyone who immediately joined in, helped test things out, and kicked my ass at some PvP to ensure things were working properly.

FTB Modded

Feed The Beast - Monster
Arcanite and I are ready to release our FTB - Monster server to anyone who cares to join.

Download Feed the Beast Launcher, select the Monster pack. Currently we are on version 1.0.10.

Right now, nothing is really limited. Venture off on your own, find a nice place to build and have at it!

Some notes: All settings have been left more or less at FTB-Monster defaults.
FTB_Monster is not yet finalized, and some mods are likely to be added/removed/changed. Nothing we can help.

We will have a dedicated Quarry world, in which you can quarry away to your hearts content. I do not want the main map littered with holes and such from quarries, so they are disabled there.
Bare with me on this post, it will be extensive. (mainly because I have slacked on these updates for some time now, they can be a pain to write, when I would simply rather improve/implement/fix etc)

This has been FAR too long in the making. The reasons are many fold, one of which being my vacations/time away from home/work/new house projects. I hope to push the next few days and get as much of this in place as possible.

We will soon open a new portal to a minigames server. This server will contain previous favorites such as WAR and MobArena, but also include some new ones such as ProWalls, KitPvP and more. We are in desperate need of some really good maps for each plugin, if you are creative and would like to help out, please feel free to do so on the build server. Staff members can be asked for any assistance or suggestions, though bukkit and google are your friend in coming up with ideas, rules and such.

I am especially hopeful for ProWalls. These maps are square, divided in to 4 sections. Teams each build, mine, fortify and gather weapons and armor in their section. After a set timer runs out, the walls between sections comes down, and the last team standing wins.

Network Hardware
Some of you may have noticed that the server has come up and down for moments at a time over the past couple of days, with one roughly half hour period offline. This was all expected and planned(though probably not communicated as well as it could have been). I had been having trouble with our network equipment since moving in to my new place, and finally got around to configuring a new router, rewiring my home network and putting in a new switch. None of you may notice much, but so far I am seeing 6-10ms better ping times. May not seem like much, but it is quite huge when I ping google at 26-30 typically anyways. Big percentage difference. It also allows me to define much more fine tuned rules for bandwidth. This really only affects us when I am doing offsite backups of our server files, which is often times late at night. I get the added bonus of some sick WiFi range that can reach my shed now! :)

Skyblock Updates
About 3 weeks ago I posted an update to our skyblock plugin, which forced us to revamp the entire server. All existing islands were lost, but this update brought forth some really cool changes. I will not list them all here, as you can see them in game. But some highlights are a really cool, inventory based menu allowing for doing various actions via your inventory. Also fixed/updated/modified are challenges, rewards, the party system, locking your island and a whole lot more. This is a late beta version, so expect some minor bugs until the full release is done.

In secret, Arcanite and I have been diligently working on bringing a modded server back to Legends. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the mod packs, it is NOT possible to link this modded server with our other server network. Therefore, no cross server chat or player lists will be available. Expect details of this in the VERY near future. In preparation, download Feed The Beast - Monster mod pack version 1.1.10. I hope to see some of you modded adventurers on here and there once live.

Rust Server
Last but not least, I would like to announce that Legends is branching out a bit in to hosting other servers. I have currently opened the latest Alpha version of the rather new, Minecraft clone, Rust. Rust is available on Steam, though the price is quite steep for the early stage that the game is in. Rust also currently does NOT* allow hosting your own custom servers, they force you to rent servers from hosting providers. These providers are exceptionally expensive. Luckily, I have found a way around this, gotten a hold of the latest server files, and opened my own server. :)

The game is relatively stable, though I do get occasional random time out errors when a player goes idle for too long, and it crashes the server. I will try to keep it up 24/7, as it is actually very light on resources.

Feel free to join and explore, and perhaps help to build a kick ass base. I have some high hopes for this game, though nothing can or ever will replace the simple genius and fun of Minecraft.

If anyone has any other ideas for servers they would like to see the Legends network get involved in, please let me know! I know I will be hopping on the ESO bandwagon once it is release. :)

And finally, 1 week later, I am moved in, 1/10th settled, and most importantly have the server up and running, and on new hardware!

Ill have some photo's to share with everyone once I tidy up the server room. I have dubbed it, the control center. It houses our Minecraft Server, modem in, battery backup, backup server and serves as a central hub for some media related items throughout my house. Right now, it is an absolute mess, as I am redoing all of the wiring, but it is operational! I will soon be upgrading our router, hopefully no more disconnects or timeouts from it.

On to Minecraft! I do apologize the server went so long without updates, upgrades, news, anything. I also apologize for any down time incurred. But, alas it was all necessary. Today, I have worked out some issues I had the past couple of days with moving us to 1.7. Officially, there is no recommended 1.7 build of the version of Bukkit we use, but I have managed to get us relatively stable on a beta build.

I cannot test every single little thing, but at least we boot without error, and I can move/talk/transfer money safely. I need assistance from members of the community in testing, and reporting bugs.

Also up, I will soon have a "vanilla" MC server running through one of the portals allowing you to explore a brand new map with all the 1.7 features. For now, it will NOT BE TIED TO THE TOWNY SERVER. But, once I am positive all is stable, will open up a second map on the towny server, with 1.7 generation features.

I am going to cut this post short, even though I have a lot more to discuss, so that I may get back to work on MC. :)

Update on the Move

Move in date is fast approaching. I have added multiple tasks to my list to get complete on the house prior to move in, and have pushed the move in date back to the last weekend of October. After than, things should settle down quite a bit, and I can get some much needed updates injected in to Legends.

As a part of those updates, I will be re-doing our server from the hardware side of things. I will be selling off our current hardware and upgrading us to a new, leaner system. In doing this, I will be able to offload some of the current tasks our production server is doing to some other equipment I have. This will allow me to streamline future update processes, increase server count and options where needed, and will alleviate some of the issues I have been having with some of our current equipment. As many of you have noticed, I have been having a rough time with our current router. This will soon be replaced as well. In all, come mid-November, Legends will be back in to the full swing of things and I can begin working on improving our player base! I plan to take out some ad space on a few of the popular server lists and forums.
